A5. Aims and objectives of the experimental programme
The objectives of WP5 were:
- to implement an experimental programme based on scenarios developed in WP1;
- to carry out experimental evaluation of the scenarios to establish safety distances, data for ventilation requirements and gas detection/sensor systems;
- to carry out experimental evaluations for scenarios relevant to the full spectrum of risk ranging from small common foreseeable faults such as defective valves, seals and electrical components, to less common faults with more severe consequences such as catastrophic failure. The phenomena to be investigated include release, mixing and combustion;
- that obtained data is to provide direct relevance to permitting of hydrogen and fuel cell systems;
- that, in addition, the use of sensors has also to be investigated in terms of their application and operation.
