5.2.3 Step 3 - national legislation

The installation needs to meet national legislation dealing with planning approval, building regulations and fire regulations. For residential applications they will probably only need to comply with the national building regulations.  These as well as dealing with construction requirements of the building also deal with issues including fire safety, ventilation, sound insulation and energy efficiency. Installations that are connected to the electrical distribution network, for exporting surplus electricity back to the grid, will need to meet national electrical regulations for interconnectivity of supplies.
