5.2.1 Step 1 - risk assessment

Undertake a risk assessment to identify the hazards and measures to be implemented to eliminate or mitigate their effects.  For domestic installations at best a fairly basic risk assessment will be required and may not be required at all in some cases, e.g. for an integrated CHP system.  In these cases it will be sufficient that the equipment is installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions, as in drawing up these instructions the manufacture will have undertaken a risk assessment.  Guidance on how to undertake a risk assessment can be found in Appendix A8.
