3.1.2 Compliance with EC directives

The manufacturer of a fuel cell and its components, or their authorised representative, must ensure that the relevant EC directives are complied with. Compliance with these directives is mandatory in the EU; however, taking into account the state of the art, demonstration models etc, it may not be possible to meet all the objectives set. In that event, the equipment must, as far as possible, be designed and constructed with the purpose of approaching the objectives detailed in any relevant directive(s). Table 2 gives a list of relevant directives. An outline of what has to be addressed is given in the sections below.
